hr 4437

In an attempt to protest against the HR4437 bill many hispanic kids walked off of campus today. I completely respect their rights to protest, but many of the kids at my school fell out of line and stirred away from their initial purpose. The funny part was questioning the protesters and asking what they were protesting about. Enlightened by their responses (lol), many of them told me they were protesting against the immigration law. I found that part to be a little amusing because the immigration law did not change yet, a bill was proposed by the house.

Secondly most of the children out protesting were only there to have their face on camera, or because their friends were out there. If they wanted to make a real impact those who are of age would vote against the bill, and if age does prohibit they would sway their parents or older aquaintances to do so (which I highly doubt they`ll do). It is one thing to stand up for a cause, and not a real cause until you take proper action. The protest at my school was highly unorganized and not well thought up, it turned into a mob scene of kids on the street chanting VIVA MEXICO!. And lastly most of them were blindsighted by their own desire to protest to actually realize that the bill was written in order to protect the state of Americas citizen from terrorism.

It is funny that the protest in Los Angeles(500,000) occured peacefully, but our 1000+ student body was unable to do so.

But yes the bill has its ups and downs, so I would be neutral.
