I saw a .4 lbs weigh gain this morning. I am only a little discouraged as I understand several things:
~ I am building MUSCLE. This is from all of the muscle building exercises in my morning routine, AND weight lifting. Just because the scale moved up .4 lbs does not mean that I did not burn some fat. Chances are I burned more fat than that but built .4 lbs of lean muscle more than I burned fat.
~ I have not been having a full 12 hours between my last meal of the night and first meal of the day as I was previously doing. Our schedule has caused me to have to eat after 10 at night and waiting to eat breakfast until after 10 AM is supper difficult. I wake up most days during the 7AM hour. I can workout once I am up for 40 minutes or so, spend 20 minutes working out and delay eating another hour but I have to eat within 2 hours of waking. Which makes it less than 12 hours. I believe the intermittent fasting was making a difference.
~ I may have lost no weight but the shorts I weighed in this morning are a heavier fabric than the shorts I usually weigh in. They could attribute the .4 lbs and I may have just broken even.
~ It is getting close to time for Aunt Flo to bring her monthly visit and there is a chance that I am retaining water and my hormones are all out of wack.
~ I was not allowing myself any carbs, other than from veggies after lunch time everyday. I have been having carbs later in the day.
So, my plan is this: I will understand that just because the scale moved the wrong way, does not mean that I have failed. I will also understand that there are a few things I can focus on a bit more and do so. I will see what Monday brings. If I still do not see a drop on the scale I will plan to continue doing what I am doing but not weigh for a full week. If that does not make a difference I will come up with a new plan of approach. Also, I plan to get the measurements of my waist, hips, neck, arms, and thighs today so that I will have another bar by which to measure progress.
So I am slightly discouraged, but only ever so slightly. I have not lost heart. I will just work harder.
Also, yesterday Otou referred to one of my Katas as being " great". I replied with, " Well that is a huge improvement over it no longer making you want to vomit". We both laughed. Yes, that was an actual " compliment" he once gave me at my orange belt. Later in the day when I asked him which Kata he had said that about neither of us was sure. He said that it was either ZenShin Sho or Bassai Dai, because they were both really good. Yeah, he made my day.
