What is wrong with pink? It is just a color.

I already said there's nothing wrong with it; I'm just more upset that they won't come off!

You're- Aurora?

... West. My name is West. It's a pleasure to finally be acquainted.

While I can see why that would be an annoyance, as long as it doesn't interfere with your work it should be fine.

It's nice to meet you as well, West, although I do not understand what you mean by 'finally.'

I've heard you mentioned around the journals, that's all. Only in passing, you understand.

No, it does sound like I've gotten away with one of the less frustrating- or even downright dangerous- pranks of the Tree. While the glasses throw off my depth perception just a bit, it's really nothing inconvenient.

Has anything happened to you recently?

I see. It isn't unheard of for others to discuss people over the journals.

Most of the current 'pranks' appear to be rather benign, though I warn you that some have had their variants return. They seem predisposed towards violent behavior, so act cautiously.

I am only stuck in inconvenient clothing. It is nothing of concern.

I know I've been warned before to be careful of what I write.

Do you... mind if I ask you about some of the things I've heard?

Mm, yes. I appear to have gotten on the lucky side. Would you happen to know if there's any history of anyone... singing uncontrollably?

There is no point in censoring yourself as long as what you write is truthful. There is nothing I have said over the journals that I would not repeat in person.

Go ahead. I will answer to the best of my knowledge.

Yes, that is an event we've had to deal with. Why do you ask?

Well... I just wanted to ask you... I've heard you were murdered? A friend of a friend... was also in the same situation... but came back, as well...

Aah, so it is something that's happened before. Was it harmful, or did anything except time help stop it? Someone I know is currently having the same problem.

The situation was a bit more complicated than that, but yes, I did experienced death at the hands of another person.

Other than being grating on the ears, no lasting harm was done. It wore off on its own.

I see. I Do you I'm sort of curious on how this whole "reborn" thing works. I don't trust it very much, but it seems a worthwhile concern. If you have any information on it you're willing to share, I'd like to know more. It can never hurt to be prepared.

I would not suggest risking it, if you are planning something. There is never a guarantee that a person will come back.

I cannot give specific details, mostly because I do not know them, but rebirth involves re-hatching from a cocoon in the Hall of Beginnings, usually within 3 to 7 days of death. The body disappears beforehand and memories may or may not be affected.

I plan on staying firmly among the living for as long as I can. I was merely curious. You must admit, it's a rather strange phenomenon.

You say there's both "never a guarantee" and that "the body disappears beforehand" but the only accounts I've heard of, the people who have come back seem to have been victims of foul play, and all three that I know of came back. But do you mean that some of the people who have simply disappeared- like Captain Drake and Vanilla from the bookshop- sometimes come back as well?

I do agree, but there is very little that can be considered 'normal' here. People hatching from cocoons in the first place, the loss of memories, the strange events, the Wilderness, none of it makes logical sense.

Those who simply disappear rarely come back. It is not impossible, but exceedingly rare.
