She was the cook on the ship. Not the toughest job, but necessary nonetheless. She took pride in it, really; she did the best apple pie on the seven seas! Even her Captain said that! Then again, it was quite easy to achieve such a feat; not many bothered with apple pie on pirates ships nowadays. She supposed no one ever had though. But her Captain liked it, so she baked it.

However, she did more than cook and bake on the ship; she liked to say she was the reason it was still floating. People had met few so adapt at mending, constructing and inventing such as her, the said, and yes; even her Captain agreed.

In fact, that was the main reason she was on the ship in the first place - cooking excluded.

When Edward (her Captain) and Alphonse (his little brother and First Mate) were little, they had played together with her in her gardens. Not very proper for the Lady she was supposed to grow up into, or the Gentlemen they had been raised to be. But they had played - in dirt and grass and rain - and she had never found such good friends in any of the girls her age.

So when her parents passed away, their shoulders were ready for her to cry on. She returned the favour when their mother passed away, but it hadn't been enough.

She'd been forced to follow them without their invitation when they left home for good, and it hadn't been until there was no longer a time for turning back that she'd revealed herself. It had been on a ship, hidden under deck, and they'd been furious.

But everything, as they say, turned out all right in the end, even if the ship had been a pirate ship in disguise. They'd been accepted, miraculously, into the crew after a few life-scarring tests (the Captain who'd taken them under her wing was merciless; but she wasn't evil).

A few years later Edward and Alphonse said it was time to leave; find their own ship. She'd been terrified to be left behind; furious beyond reason. That is, until Edward suggested she'd make use of her handy skills with fixing anything broken.

She could've kissed him, at 15, and it'd scared her.

Now, she was 18 and their ship and crew had become famous in the few years it'd been sailing. Life was good, she supposed. Better than stuffy dresses, snobby richfolks and arranged marriages.

Although, sometimes, she really missed running through blooming gardens barefoot and carefree. The only reminder of those times were her childhood friends; Captain and First Mate.

She supposed, in the end, it wasn't all that bad. As long as they were together.
