yes, today the 3rd years on my school ordered their graduation caps! :D
mine turned out like this;
so, what's the deal with the Sea Captain like cap? lol.
wiki copied;
"The Swedish student cap (studentmössa), used since the mid-19th century, normally has a white crown, a black or dark blue band and a black peak. At the front of the band is a
cockade of blue and yellow, the colours of the
Swedish flag.
Originally associated with completion of the
studentexamen, the entrance examination to the universities, which was at the time of the original adoption of student caps always taken at the universities, the cap followed the studentexamen to the secondary schools when these took over the final examination of their students in 1864. After this point it was donned upon graduation by everybody who completed the studentexamen, whether they continued to university or not.
With the caps now being used upon graduation by almost all secondary school students, and with many of the caps being more strongly associated with the secondary school attended than with the common identity as a Swedish student, as had originally been intended.
Most hats also have a thin coloured hatband to signify the student’s programme. Colours include green for natural sciences, royal blue for social sciences and silver for construction."
as for MY hat/cap/thing.....
the cap is the model called "brilliant" (the most expensive one, ohohoho~!) and on top of the cap the coat of arms for my county is embroided. inside I chose to have the Uppsala design (yellow and blue in a diamond shape), and due to the cap's model, there's also a little pocket there for cards (id, etc) or money etc (perfect for the graduation night lol). the cap's screen is of real calf's skin as well, and apparently, the cap has some weird thing going on so that it'll smell "summer-y" for 10 years (hahaha oh god XD).
I also chose a golden band to go around the cap, and a blue stone to represent the course of study I'm taking. also got my name and my graduation year embroided in the front (nothing in the back; it got too expensive haha XD). I think that's all...oh, and I ordered a champagne glass as well with "graduate 2010" on along with my name. for the champagne breakfast on the graduation day :)
we also got a yearbook! it's the first time it's been introduced in Sweden; never had it before. so we get it a bit cheaper, to promote it I guess ;)
oh damn this year just couldn't pass fast enough. I just have so much to overcome before I reach the point where I can enjoy it all XD damnit.
