I was trying hard to NOT participate in the Season... but I broke down and bought gifts today. I still want to get my friends at least something... but the problem is getting all of them something meaningful and I've only got so much money, so expect something lame like a Starbucks giftcard or something. I guess it's a way for me to get you to come see me.
I've been writing about two songs a day, which would normally be awesome. However, I find I'm filtering most of them out, showing a few to my band, all of which have so far been denied. I was working tonight and merged a few of the ideas together and took a couple of ideas that they threw out during practice. This one is unfinished, but it's got some really cool bits.
Intro chords: C C7 Fm
then there's an a 3-string chord inversion thing played
Verse: Cm G# C# G7 Cm G7, last line goes to this before back to verse: Cm C# D#7 Fm Cm G# G7
and the bridge is pretty much just a power chord progression: G5 G#5 C5 B5 G5 G#5 D#5 D5 C5 B5 D5 Cm
and right now I have it kind of holding on a Cm for a while until I write more.... lyrics are pretty rough too, but I like some of the themes.
I feel faint and the sunlight is waning
as darkness falls I can see the fires reaching the very gates of Glory.
The driving winds only fuel the inferno
our voices ring, but they're lost in the echoes as the lights grow brighter for me
and this brings me to you.
Your wonderous eyes cast out upon the awning
They shimmer and shine, but the Abyss is still yawning, pouring forth its tidings for your love
Back to Rushmore.
