I'm thinking about going book shopping today. I have a gift card, and when I went to Half-Price Books this weekend past, I found not ONE thing I wanted. That almost never happens. Eesh.

New E-zine! Ricochet Magazine. Created (in part?) by one of my lovely LJ friends. I don't know if she wants her LJ name connected to this so I will refrain from mentioning her. But it's an online quarterly magazine for original writings and will be offered as a downloadable PDF file. They want writers and artists (short fiction, poetry, photography, art) and you should go and support them either through submissions or by reading! Yes! Support your local art! ;) Here's the syndicated LJ account you can add to your flist. Keep the actual site bookmarked.

You guys. Just a mention of this... I have the name "Meloni" logged as a Google alert for myself, so I can see new pics and interviews when they come up. I also get a lot of RPF fic included in my alerts from journals that, I assume, don't have their privacy settings set to minimize their inclusion. Now, maybe you don't mind that and don't care, and that's cool! Whatever you're comfortable with! I tend to like my ramblings about any celebrity to not actually be readily available to anyone who knows him, but I can also be pretty repressed and anal.
However. If you DO want to keep your fanfic/rantings/RPF from being easily Googled, you need to go to your account settings page. (Journal tag in your task bar above, then to 'viewing options') Then to the 'Privacy' tab, and then tick the box after 'search inclusion' to minimize your journal's inclusion in search results from actual search engines. You can also do a whole bunch of other stuff there too, like logging IP addresses if you're having problems with trolls.
Again, if this isn't a concern for you, then it's FINE. I'm not trying to tell people how to feel. I just know some of you aren't too familiar with a lot of the LJ features and how much control you have over them. And it might make some of you feel more comfortable.
Also, the chris_mariska comm doesn't have the box ticked, so all posts there show up in Google alerts, so if you want to thwart that, mark your entries as members only.

I was going to rec a bunch of RPF today, because, seriously, there's almost more activity in the Chris/Mariska RPF fandom than there is in Elliot/Olivia. ( Except for this awesome E/O story by scullyseviltwin) And lauridsen09, ckdextrhaven and raeology101 have all written some recent Chris/Mariska.
But then I thought that maybe I'd just rec the chris_mariska LJ community, in case you didn't know about it. As most people do post links to their fic there, and it's been quite busy lately! So, join up and read all about the Hot Actor OTP, if you're into it, peeps. :)
