Happy November!
What a Monday! It ended far better than it started. Far better. Especially since it started at six this morning with me running to the toilet. Then crashing back into bed. Then a shower. Then bed. Then me running to the toilet again. Then signing up for my classes. Then crashing again. It turns out my friend Stevan was also sick this morning in much the same manner. I figured it was probably just something I ate yesterday, but maybe it was some minor bug. No matter, I feel better tonight, at least.
I love my schedule for next semester. Only five more weeks, then four weeks, then I'll be starting the day far later, and be in hopefully far more interesting classes. Just five more weeks of classes...
So I didn't have my 8 am lecture, and I skipped the 9 am, going to to the noon instead. My geo prof. is at a conference this week, so today was an optional lecture by Tom (a really dorky grad student) who talked about Dinosaurs. It was pretty funny, he has a good sense of humor, and he was really knowledgeable. And he let us out a couple minutes early. Win.
I went home for two hours before going back for learning community. Saw Brett on my way out. Must have been distracted by that because I then tried to get myself ran over by a white chevy impala that came out of the sunset and I didn't see. I pedaled harder to get out of their way, cursing impalas- I fucking hate those cars. The woman I hit drove one, I tried to hit one in town later this summer, and so they suck. I hate chevy's anyway, except for Andrew's car- that thing is fucking nice. But it's a Monte Carlo. That's classy. Impalas are just lame to the max.
Went to learning community, which was boring. Then we were standing around talking afterward and I asked Stevan how to do something on the chem lab report. He then asked me and Brendan to come over and we'd do the reports together. Which was awesome. He walked with me to my apartment, us talking the whole way. He's so easy to get along with for being a sarcastic 18 year old. I kind of hoped Brett would happen to be looking out his window when we walked past, but I would never know if he had or not. But I can imagine. We went inside, grabbed my lab manual, Stevan looked my apartment over, and we left again. I think Andrew and I's plan to get two apartments in Freddie filled with men and woman Geo and Meteorology students is one person closer. He seemed sold.
We went back to his dorm, sat down to study, were joined by Brendan, and went down to eat. Before we did any work at all. Stevan bought me supper again since I didn't have sufficient funds to buy supper and they wouldn't accept my $100 bill. Understandably. Then we went back to the room, tried to do work, bitched that the World Series preempted House, and then decided at 8:30 to finally go to the MU.
Tonight the comedian Bo Burnham was performing for free. We got halfway there when we met the guy who lived next to Stevan coming the other way - we were too late. I didn't mind too much as I had never heard of this guy before last week, and instead the four of us went back to Stevan's and watched Blue Harvest. Which was brilliant. They copied all the silliest lines from Star Wars, chopped out the parts that tend to drag on, and were just generally silly, keeping to true Family Guy way. When it was over I walked back to my apartment, which is on the far side of the campus. Hooray.
I called my mom and she told me this story that I don't want to ever ever forget. Her sister, the black sheep of the family, has been seeing this creeper for years. My mom doesn't like him, of course, but I guess he is pretty insane. He found out from a cousin that his father was ill. He called his mother and found out he was on his death's bed. He borrowed some money and took the bus out to Denver. When he arrived, he called his mother.
Yeah. His parents had moved to Florida.
...
Oh, that is so going into a story...
