Super-Exaggerated.

My Easter was brajilliant. I've not had this much exercise in months, for one.

I started my day sitting in front of my sewing machine, messing with my bobbins and thread. I'm quite boring. Actually, if you are familiar with Catch-22, then you know that I was channeling Orr. The other day I was super-channeling him, I was tearing my machine apart when suddenly my two pieces of fabric wouldn't stick together. (I'm so handy.) That's when I broke my needle. So I guess I wasn't doing so well at being Orr, he never broke anything. Whatever. Today I was just sorting my thread by color, and then winding my bobbins, and being generally geeky.

Unfortunately my mother then called me and told me to make some cinnamon rolls. So I ran down there, put them in the oven and quickly cleaned up the kitchen. We ended up in the garden burning off last year's dead stuff, waiting for the family to trickle out. We put up a new pen for the dog, tried to injure myself, and ran around being silly with the kids.

Our dinner was the super-classy baked macaroni and cheese, brussels sprouts, peas, pineapple, and strawberry crepes for dessert.  We didn't have anything more exciting since Dad had some of his teeth pulled this week and been told to have nice not-crunchy food.

We also dyed eggs, making a huge mess. My brother made a green one with a poison symbol, my niece one that said "Bill is a Poop-head." In fact, I would go so far as to say that the theme of the day was "So-and-so is a poop-head." We had 3-d sidewalk chalk, and my niece being humble and all wrote "Shelby is so awesome." Bill amended it to say "Shelby is an awesome poopyhead"

And you know what? It was in 3-D!

We then had a visitation from the Easter bunny. He left, among other things, mini cadbury creme eggs. Mmm... delish.

We chased bubbles, sat around and talked, and it finally broke up when a storm menaced the landscape at 5 or 6. But it was a good day. We spent a lot of time laughing and being dorky together. Yes, my anger at my brothers' for ignoring me during the break has faded for now. Maybe later I'll remember.

Annoyed thought of the day: There's this older woman in my ceramics class who, every time she saw me last week, asked what I had done with my hair. Every time I responded, "I washed it. That's all I've done." "Yeah, but how did you get that purple in it?!" "That's the pink that is underneath. I didn't do anything special." "Well, it looks different. I like it." "Yeah, okay." I'm getting so sick of that discussion. I don't much care for the older women in the class anyway (there are 3 of them and they all annoy me to varying degrees) but she is the best.

The one is just flat out insane, always complaining about her loveless marriage and how she needs to leave her husband because they can't even stand each other, blah blah blah... a lot of bluster but no action, basically. The other woman is an ex-marine and rather no-nonsense. I think she's trying to regain some of her individuality she inevitably lost while serving our country, but its going quite... odd. She made this pouring vessel for Annie's Mugshot. It's large, unwieldy and - dare I say it?- hideous. It's name is Elvis, which it does bear a resemblance to... I don't like it at all, but everyone goes on about how it looks. I hope it is just my own mind that makes it ugly... then again, she did make this huge metal handle covered in silver beads and blue-painted wooden beads that just adds to the kitsch.

Meh, semester is over soon, I won't have to look at it ever again. Which is kind of how I feel about this motorcycle quilt I am making for my uncle for his 60th birthday. Soon I'll finish it and never have to look at it again... but then when he dies someday, someone will know I made it and it'll make it's way back to me. Hooray.

I feel sunkissed, I'm slightly hungry but not in the mood to find something to eat, and it is late. Classes tomorrow drive me to bed. I hope everyone else had a lovely holiday, whatever it is that you celebrated. Good night.
