Looking for some shoes...

In particular, I'm looking for a pair of flat-soled boots which come up to between mid-calf and knee, allowing for my chunkier-than-average legs. I'd prefer them to be lace-up, and I'd like them to be leather but I realise I'll likely have to pay heaps for them if they are so other materials are an option ( Read more... )

There's a couple of good outlets on Smith Street too. I have boot lust but no money.

OK... going totally country-gal here - where's Smith St?

My problem with boot lust is twofold - I'm fussy, and I'm usually broke - but my tax return is in and was awesome, so I'm giving myself a little bit of money for boots :-)

Ooh, where did you move from?

Smith St is in Collingwood, you live in Melbourne now right? I think it's the 86 tram from Bourke Street.

I got tax return boots the year before last, but I want brown boots now. The ones I got are 'tough' chunky black ones that don't go with everything.

Yay for tax returns, I need to do mine. I hope I get a bit back.

I grew up in Gippsland and moved to South Gippsland when I hit high school, we're 'technically' metropolitan... I'm living in Doncaster at the moment but have no idea where all the shopping strips are (especially as I'm usually not that interested in shopping).

The boots I'm looking for are flat and black but dressy.. Plus have to cater to my chunky legs :-D

Ah, I used to live in Bulleen, next door! Maybe check out Westfield Shoppingtown to see if they have sales?

I have wasted away legs and find boots to be too big for my calves in general, so you might be fine with normal fit. I saw the hottest ones in Smith St the other day. The lacing was on back of the calf and I wanted them hard, but alas money.

I don't think docs are dressy, but depends on what you wear with them and your style.

You'll be able to find Smith st easy enough with the melways. If you are going over there, check out Brunswick Street too. There's tonnes of outlets in melbourne.

Good luck and post pictures when you find the perfect pair. :)

Hate to say it love but I haven't lived in Melbourne for a year and a half and I know that the 86 tram does not go down Smith St. It is the tram that goes out to RMIT and Latrobe Uni's in Bundoora.

Your best bet for Smith St Collingwood is driving in or train. The best train stop that I can remember is Richmond... Smith St is also in the vacinity of Bridge Rd, which is another special shopping spot, but Smith St can be slightly cheaper and has grovier stuff from Memeory.
Bridge St is where the Main Stream outlets are, i.e. Sportsgirl.

Shop around and try things on and be prepared to be a little dismayed and put off. As shopping for larger size anything can be annoying at the best of times.

You could try www.exoticfootwear.com.au
They are in Seaford, Victoria.
They have flat ones like these Boots

Whoops, I think it might be the 96. I don't remember tram numbers well. It's easy enough to find out though.

See, these are almost perfect - I could wear these casually or, if I dressed them up a little, with a skirt and my corset.

It is a bit more than what I would like to spend though...
