"Christian" bigotry and pure evil

I am beyond disturbed by the fact that there is so much hatred being spewed by so-called "Christians" and "Americans" regarding the new TLC show All-American Muslim. Every single article that discusses the "controversy" about the show is inundated with anti-Muslim remarks in the comment section. People are very nasty, threatening, openly and comfortably spitting their racist xenophobic vitriol all over the place.

Florida Family, an extremist Christian right organization, has lead the charge against the show. They have engaged in a letter writing campaign to intimidate advertisers. They were successful in getting some companies to pull out, at least temporarily, but their primary success has been Lowe's, who cut off advertising during the show completely. Lowe's has issued a series of useless, bullshit PR statements intended to save face and to attempt to disguise the fact that they are anti-Islam.

Let's be clear-- there is no "controversy" here. The campaign against All-American Muslim is a direct attack on Muslims; it is not a debate of any kind and it most assuredly is not reasoned. This is yet more evidence of the extreme danger that the Crazy Christian Conservatives pose to society. They are intellectually stunted, morally corrupt, hypocritical, and full of outwardly directed self-hatred.

They claim that "the point of the show is to depict Muslims as ordinary folks just like you and me who are subjected to unjust suspicion." To Florida Family this is wrong because it does not reflect the reality of Islam, which centers on "...teachings of violence against and the subjugation of unbelievers. It is with the supremacist ideology and the fervent believers in those noxious doctrines of warfare and subjugation."

According to the Florida Family website, "...All-American Muslim would be much more interesting if it tracked one of its secular, attractive nominal Muslims as he decided to get more serious about his faith, and ended up participating in jihad activity or Islamic supremacist efforts to demonize and marginalize those who resist that activity. Such a show would be far more honest in its depiction of the causes of the trumped-up malady of “Islamophobia” -- and of its remedies, for the best outcome would be a show in which the nascent jihadi was turned into the FBI by his patriotic and moderate coreligionists. But that is a show we will never see; instead all that All-American Muslim gives us is a denunciation of “Islamophobia” featuring Muslims who could never have conceivably inspired any suspicion of Islam in the first place. The show is a bait-and-switch."

Apparently by not showing Muslims blowing up buildings, TLC is pushing an agenda that is meant to deceive us about the reality of Islam, such that we let down our guard against jihad and Sharia law. Furthermore, the whole "Islamophobia" thing is just another part of the "liberal agenda."

Of course these nutters have nothing whatsoever to say about the Christian extremists who blow up buildings in their name of their religion. In fact, they spend quite a bit of time talking about the persecution of modern Christians who, unlike the deviously-passing-as-normal Muslims, experience scads of of mistreatment simply for being who they are.

Comments on the websites suggest that Muslims go back to "where they came from," that they are not welcome in AMERICA, that they are arrogant liars, rapists, murderers, etc. They are portrayed as the "biggest threat to our country."

Other sentiments revolve around the American-ness of Muslims, suggesting that one cannot be both a follower of Islam and an American. Apparently when they refer to how "we" don't want Muslims around, they are referring to entitled, White Christians. These are the only people who are truly American and no one else need apply.

It  would all be laughable, were the anti-Muslim faction not so loud and apparently influential. Ignorance is the biggest threat to our country, as has been demonstrated (time and again) by these loathsome pitiful excuses for people. If there is any group who is "evil" it is extremist "Christians."

I urge all the thinking, rational, and just people out there to resist this hate campaign, to make your voice heard, and to be intolerant of this extremist bigotry. Don't let racists like Pam Geller, Robert Spencer, and David Caton set the agenda.
