T or F? Inis Baeg is home to one of the most sexually permissive cultures in history.
About 25% of students asked me what "permissive" meant. I am sure at least as many wondered but didn't ask.
The answer, BTW, is False. Inis Baeg is one of the most sexually repressed cultures known. They are an isolated, extremely traditional Catholic people who believe that sex is a necessary evil that should only be engaged in grudgingly and while fully clothed.
2. On the Bem Inventory:
Students did not know the following words:
yielding
conscientious
assertive
analytical
conceited
gullible
tactful
3. On the food assignment where they were to list the ingredients of a processed food product and research 2 of the unrecognizable ingredients:
Common ingredients chosen were:
Niacin
Riboflavin
Thiamin
Paprika
Turmeric
We are talking about these chosen out of a list of 100 ingredients, many of which are more than a dozen letters long and unpronouncable or ridiculously vague. They did not pick disodium gaunylate, TBHQ, or pgph.I am not sure if this reflects stupidity or just laziness or a combo of both. Whatever the case the point of the assignment was totally lost and it probably ended up teaching them that the food they are eating is good for them (after all, the human body NEEDS niacin and there are really no negative side effects from eating paprika!), rather than teaching them their food is full of nasty ingredients that are derived from petroleum and are poisonous. Some people even picked things like cornstarch or whey.
Hopelessly frustrating.
