Pat Robertson: Idiot
I am sure you guys have heard about his stupid Haiti comment by now:
On what does he base this assertion that Haitians are in league with "The Devil?" Well, according to his website Haitian slaves rebelled against French colonial rule by selling their souls to the devil back in 1791. Since then, he says, they have been plagued by one problem after another.
I guess they should have allowed the French to control them indefinitely and they would now be living like royalty instead of being trapped under the rubble of broken buildings? The problems couldn't possibly have anything to do with the 300 + years of interference from the Spanish, French, and Americans. Oh no. Whitey knows best.
Afterall, some peoples are destined to be controlled by others. As Aristotle said "...the lower sort are by nature slaves, and it is better for them as for all inferiors that they should be under the rule of a master. For he who can be, and therefore is, another's and he who participates in rational principle enough to apprehend, but not to have, such a principle, is a slave by nature. Whereas the lower animals cannot even apprehend a principle; they obey their instincts. And indeed the use made of slaves and of tame animals is not very different; for both with their bodies minister to the needs of life.... It is clear, then, that some men are by nature free, and others slaves, and that for these latter slavery is both expedient and right."
Note that this does not preclude having compassion for the naturally inferior. Pat Robertson is still praying for Haiti.
We all need to pray that Robertson, Limbaugh, and the other uberconservative freaks out there soon grow both brains and hearts.
