Welcome to America.
We don't tolerate your kind here...
I would like to tell you all a story: This morning, I got out of my math class and an advisor appointment, and our dorm is having a blood drive. I have given blood many times before, and it makes me feel good that I can help other people in their time of desperate need.
Having given blood like four times, I went through the standard poking/prodding procedures, and went to the questions.
I would also like to note that my blood type is O+, a universal donor... I can give to anyone, which can be kind of important when there is a blood shortage.
Q 35: If you are a male, have you had sexual contact with another male since 1977?
Answer: Yes
Response from the worker: Oh, that makes you a deferred donor... You can't donate today, nor ever again.
So ummm... I don't have AIDS, nor ANY other sexually transmitted disease.
So to all the women out there... Have YOU had sexual contact with a man since 1977? Oh wait, even though it is the EXACT same risk (Note: The question does not specify anal intercourse, which some have argued is more dangerous, due to the amount of blood or something like that) as a man having sex with a man, YOU straight people CAN donate. It doesn't even matter if a man/man used a condom (Safer than hetero-sex without a condom by far). If you are gay/bisexual... congratulations! You are an unwanted member of society, and cannot help other people.
I would personally urge you all to boycott the Red Cross. I do acknlowledge that they do good works most of the time. But instead of donating to the Red Cross, you can donate to other organizations that don't have a homophobic agenda.
So yeah, I am kind of angry at society right now. And when the next person that dies needing a blood transfusion, and can't have my blood... they can thank the Red Cross.
