My first day of class

Aug 30, 2004 14:46

So, I only had one class today. Sex & Literature. Hot class--let me tell you. And it will get oh-so-much hotter once we get to Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues (which I've already read, but that's besides the point).

My class wasn't until 12:30, but I had to get there early cause the parking attendants at Towson are Nazis and close off the garages at like 10AM the first week. Besides, I had to set up some things in the Grub Street office. Anyway, so I'm at the light to turn down the road to the garage, just rockin' out with the windows down, and this guy in a red pick-up truck pulls up next to me and says something. I didn't quite hear him, so I turn down my music and he's like, "So, you have class today?" I'm smile and go, "Yeah." And then I instinctively check to see if he has a parking permit--he doesn't. So I'm a little weirded out. Then he starts to make conversation with me--at like a five second red light. He smiles kinda sheepishly and says, "Yeah. I took a few classes a couple years ago." And I just nod and smile and shrug it off as he obviously needs to pull away, and my turn is coming up. But anyway, that was an interesting start to the day. Some thirty-something-year-old man trying to pick me up at a red light by asking me if I have class. Smooth.

I don't get guys. They all want you at the same time. Most of the time I don't ever get attention like that. And all of a sudden they all talk to me and hit on me at the same time. Security guards, students, drivers, rappers. Life is a strange, strange thing.

Today was cool though. Tomorrow I'm nervous because I'm going to be introduced to my staff for Grub Street, and I really hope they like me. :/
