School ended well, I was really pleased with how this year went. I brought my GPA back up to almost a 3.1 so I'm very happy with that. I recieved a 3.5 or something for the semester so I was -very- happy about that. I got on the Dean's list again, so, it's great, and now my grades are good enough to start looking at grad schools with an actual chance of getting in!
Matt and I didn't call it quits or anything, we didn't really say anything about what would happen between us over the summer aside from "Can't wait to see you next year." We've kept in touch - which is awesome - and I really am looking forward to seeing him again. He got a motorcycle, a cruiser, and I'm happy for him. He's working hard, Firefighting was slow so he started doing EMT full time and he's been swamped. It's good though. Hehe, my little freshman.
This summer hasn't been -that- exciting but it hasn't been bad. There have been times when I'm frustrated because there's no one around to do anything with and timing has been bad and I just haven't been able to get with anyone to do anything but, overall, I'm satisfied with this summer. I've pretty much kept in shape because of my job and I've made decent money. Although work is practically my life, I haven't hated it at all and I've looked forward to everyday... which is really something.
Speaking of work, I have so far sent a nail into my finger and the knuckle on the side of my hand and I have dropped a crate onto my foot/ankle. Nothing too serious.. bandaids and antibiotic wetwipes have been my constant companions.
I recently became a member of the Surfrider Foundation and I'm excited. I can't wait to start getting into the program. I, unfortunately, missed the beach clean up for International Surfer's Day but I survived. I want to get people together and head down to Crystal beach and clean that shit hole up. East beach is terrible.. I don't think alcohol should be allowed on it because that's what comprises about 90% of the trash there -- beer cans and glass bottles. It's just sickening. Every time I go there I can't enjoy it because all I do is walk up and down the beach -cleaning-. I wanted to go out on my own but my Mom didn't think that was wise. I need a beach clean-up buddy.
Surfing hasn't happened, too busy, no board, no one to surf with. I might drag Kristi out to G-town at some point in time.
Speaking of Kristi, she broke up with Kris, probably the only guy in the group of guys I know (the ones that have become completely worthless like Beau, Mike, etc etc) that has actual potential to do something with his life. It's been rough on her because it was her only long term relationship buuuut I cheered her up by dragged her off to the Stevie Nicks concert the other weekend. It was so much fun. I truly love the Pavilion. And, omg, I got to buy alcohol for a change. It was nice, too expensive.. but, I got five free tickets and sold three for $20 so, actually, all my drinks were free. :)
Then there was the fourth when my aunt and her clan came down to visit, like last year, but this time her son and his wife who currently live in Destin came over, too! It was so much fun! Honestly, that made my summer. Pictures are
here (<-click that). Speaking of them, I get to go see them all again come the 5th. The texas band of Schwillings are heading over to Destin to party it up because the season is over. My brother and I will be with the "kids" (adam and olivia) and we will stay @ Ty and Jami's house and then the parents will stay at my uncle Brad's brother's place. I hope I can find some surf, Ty is into it.. he thinks I should stay in destin next summer and he can hook me up with a ton of jobs where I will only be harassed a lil bit and I have constant access to the beach and his group of surfies. :)
My car is finally registered and inspected and I just went through the process of renewing my id. Blah. I'd debating whether to put money into it to fix up the little things that are wrong with it, these mostly being aesthetics. It could use a new front bumber and it needs some body work cuz either my grandma or great grandma ran into quite a few things and these dings have rusted, but I'm not sure when -- if -- it will die on me. I need to do something about it before I go to school cuz I don't want my baby becomming a rust bucket! I ordered a new signal lens.. and I need to run by the auto shop to figure out why my hazard lights don't work.
Wrapping this long-winded update up, Soundwaves is having a huge sale tomorrow, long boards are $299 and up. I've been window shopping there for quite a while and a few have caught my eye. Gotta keep my fingers crossed and hope that those are the ones on sale tomorrow. Who knows, tomorrow I may have a longboard! How sweet would that be!?
Alright, I'm done. Miss you Mo. We should do that Pink Floyd light show in the Planetarium. I understand you being swamped with work and school, no worries. I love ya.
Lata, kids.
