So, recapping this past week:
Friday evening was the start of most people's spring break. As for me, I played a polo game against Brown. Then, on Saturday, I played in two games, one against Harvard and the other against Conn College. The only game that we had a chance in was vs. Conn and we did really really well. We almost won. It was one of the closest games we'd had in a while and the closest we'd had vs Conn -ever-. I then flew home on Sunday and, greeting me outside the airport was my family and a new VW Toureg. Yes, we now own one. It's my mom's 50th b-day present from her parents. It's so nice! We then went down to Kemah and ate at Landry's. Yum. We talked about the shitty service, how diverse the area has gotten, how lower-middle/middle class whites have almost all vanished, and about sailing because it was so nice out and perfect for it. It was really nice.
The next three days were really tame. I did little to nothing, just relaxed. It was nice. I had plans to get stuff done but ended up doing none of it. Oh well. I ran into a guy from Creek at my mom's tanning place. I always find it weird to run into people from school. For some odd reason, they remember me. How? I have no clue. It's not like I was popular. Yet, the guy remembered me and I was thrown off. I recognized him, could picture how he looked in HS (cuz he'd changed a bit) but I couldn't think of his name for the life of me. I meant to look him up in my year book but I'm absent minded and it's bugging me to this day.
So, Thursday morning bright and early (5am) I went back to the airport and flew back to Utica. Had practice. Then I played in five games at Penn State Behrend in Erie, PA. Saw our old assistant coach who had recruited me to Utica. I don't think she remembered me. She's now the coach of Villanova. Anyways, we played PSB, Maryland, Notre Dame, and Colorado College. After our first game against PSB fri night, Becky, my ollllddd friend from home/Woodlands swimming, found me. Turns out she plays for Colorado. Crazy madness. So, we caught up and she helped me catch up on how Blair and Ann are doing. It was really exciting to hear how everyone was doing. I had been thinking about all of them for so long.
Anyways, our best game was our last against PSB. Supposively I'm the best player on my team, so says Becky's coach, and I'm actually getting offense down. I'm making goals. What? Yes, it's nice.
So, yeah, such an exciting spring break. The best came during those idle times in the van with my teammates. Alison would serenade us whenever beautiful soul would come on the radio and kitt would dance like she was in a boy band. Then there was the time Alison leaned out the door in the middle of some semi-ghetto area and yelled watermelon to the two guys who had been watching her singing. This was all because she got to a point where she didn't know the words and kitt told her to mouth watermelon. Well, Alison screamed it and then, in all seriousness, asked us if watermelon was a racial slur. I hadn't laughed that hard in years.
Is it sad that one of the highlights of my spring break includes getting a plug in air freshner that looks like an outlet yet smells like hawaiian breeze? I think so. Woo, I have a dull life.
What really pissed me off this week was the fact that one of my potential suitemates for next year signed up to be in a room with her roommate in another dorm, therefore making it so she can't live with us. This wouldn't be bad cuz we still have six people for a six person suite but because that one girl isn't living with us anymore, her friend might not, as well. Luckily, we can pick up two more people. But still. What the fuck?? I love being screwed over by people.
long entry, pointless, yay.
