Hello all!
My name is Kate, and I recently received a notice saying that due to changes, mostly state specific, to unemployment eligibility, I’ll either be ineligible for benefits, or receiving halved benefits shortly. In a nutshell, California’s economy is improving (hooray!) but that means we no longer qualify for certain federal extensions. Needless to say I hit the panic button, but Sam has been kind enough to allow me to ask the Café for any advice, employment referrals, or general good wishes that can be brought to the table.
I’m looking for something in the administrative field in Los Angeles/Long Beach/Orange County area of Southern California. On my own I’ve utilized job boards, as well as the employment agency Apple One in my search. Apple One mostly ignored me after my first month with them, so I’d love to hear of another agency that someone has had success with.
Ideally I’d like something full time, though I’d be excited with part time employment that allowed me to go back to school. In truth, I’ll just be excited to be able to pay bills, so that leaves the field pretty open. I have 5 years of experience as an administrative assistant across a varied spectrum of industries as well as 3 years of unpaid experience in race management and event planning. I’m highly organized, efficient, flexible, adaptable, and take quickly to the challenge of a new industry. There is a link to my resume at the bottom of the post, and I can be reached through comments here as well as by email at kearlema at gmail dot com.
Thank you all for your time, and a huge thank you to
copperbadge for seeing my panicky email request and saying "yes".
