Let's clear some tabs!

As always, thank you to everyone the links are from, sorry for not individually crediting but most of them I can't remember. :(

Passing English of the Victorian era : a dictionary of heterodox English, slang and phrase ([1909]) - this just looks fascinating.

Shoes in African history, a comparison by
eccentricyoruba - short and interesting.

Here, have some Tntin/Haddock bondage porn (link to an illustration, NSFW).

The Ultimate Celebrity Interview - this is funny and sport-on. An Actress bounds into the East London photographic studio, slightly out-of-breath, fizzing with the energy of Silvio Berlusconi on Horny Goat Weed at an 18-year-old’s swim party.

Meghalaya, India: Where women rule, and men are suffragettes - the article is a bit annoying and shallow (it is short, though, so he didn't have much space), and passes ludicrously lightly over things like the tradition of excluding women from the political decision making process is still very strong in their culture and is basically a bit crap. But the information in it is fascinating - I like learning, even if shallowly, about different ways to construct culture, and the variability of humans.

A hand-drawn cross-section panorama of Kowloon Walled City, this is unbelievably fascinating.

Hypnotic gif.

Louise Brealey: 'I don't think Molly is really Sherlock's type - in which Louise Brealey (Molly's actor) is apparently the greatest thing ever, I love her so much after this interview. You describe yourself as a feminist on your Twitter biography. What kind?

A militant one. Dungarees, moustache, all men are rapists, you know the drill...

Backstreet Boy AJ McLean Poses In Dress For Tyler Shields Shoot - I really, really like this photo. And AJ's face.

Hair in New Places - a fun blog with stories from Muslim people about the often misunderstood and taboo subjects of naked cupids, Mars and Venus, Freudian hot dogs and donut holes, and the proverbial “birds and the bees.”

This needs to stop... and let me tell you why! - a contortionist on comic book women and their poses.

Vintage condom tins - did you know they used to come in tins? God, the past was so quaint. :D

Avengers timeline - also known as the video which reminded me that I still haven't watched Iron Man 2 or the full version of Thor (I know, I know, I'm going to soon!) and made me realise that, uh, I had no idea that there was a Hulk film. Right.

1940s photos of New York and 1960s photos of Oxford - useful for Captain America and X-Men writers, as
derryderrydown says!

Nellie Bly - a ridiculously awesome woman I have just learned about.

Japanese tsunami viewed from a car - holy fuck. So basically, this guy Yu Moruga had a dashboard camera on his care on March 11th last year. This is the recovered footage from it. It had a really strong, close to tears effect on me, probably because I don't have quite the same distancing from this natural disaster as I do from most others (making absolutely no claims on any of Japan's pain, this is not a rational response, just a thing that I have), and I spent the rest of the evening feeling horrendous, but it's not horrific - you don't see anything graphic or anything. It's also kind of fascinating.

We Are The Champions -
noldo gathers together some videos made for the 2008 (& 2010) Olympics, when exciting covers of 'We Are The Champions' were recorded. 'Exciting' is a word which is here used to mean 'being in the indigenous languages of various Russian autonomous republics'. PRETTY FUCKING AWESOME.

The Eunuch Admiral - I had issues with the article, a bit, but oh my god what a fascinating man to learn about.

The Falling Man - I found this article fascinating and heart-breaking, and the idea of the taboo nature of the pictures of people jumping from the Twin Towers sort of distressing.

Mystery Blue Balls Of Jelly Rain From Dorset Skies Into Steve Hornsby's Garden - MYSTERY BLUE BALLS OF JELLY? IN DORSET? WHAT IS GOING ON? The pictures are really cool. :D

Google, what were you thinking? - Google being evil in Kenya.

Does everyone else know about Mordechai Vanunu? I didn't! He sounds really interesting, and I'm pretty saddened by his treatment although I can conceive of reasonable, non-evil reasons why.

On popularity and the Claw - popularity of stories in fandom and how arbitrary it is, in a neat metaphorical form.
