Still no laptop. I know, I know, I'm being hasty, but I WANT IT NOW. Sigh. Says it will ship by July 29th, but other customers have said it doesn't usually take as long as they claim it might. Let's hope not... I might not make it another two weeks.
Took a trip the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre today to see Funk It Up About Nothin', an "ad-rap-tation" of Shakespeare's Much Ado. Let me be honest: I thought I would hate it, and depart the theatre with innumerably less brain cells than I arrived with. However, I really was pleasantly surprised. Clever lyrics, an interesting but not busy set, and a pace that highlighted important parts while lessening the tediousness for those who aren't so Bard-inclined. I'll admit, I think those who found it most enjoyable (as tends to be the case with spoofs) were the people who really KNEW the story, inside and out. It was fun to watch actors play with line readings, and many of the choices they made and lines that were ad-libbed were indicative of the opinion of the writer/actor who said them. I felt like because it was a spoof, the actors were more at liberty to really mock what they found laughable and stress what they found important. And of course, it was just FUNNY. Anyone who is here now, go see it.
