Tricky, shaking off the shackles of conspiracy.
Invited Jenny to my place this evening and left her playing World Of Warcraft while I fielded a call from Chris. Ended up leaving the room because I figured she didn't want to hear my latest pep-talk for him. Somewhere within the remaining 20 minutes of my conversation with Chris, I started to worry that Jenny might be mad at me for having left her alone talked to one of my friends.
Such a response, a nervous glance over-the-shoulder, is one that I had been trained into with Lauren.
That strange possessive element that she could never shake.
The passionate jealousy she inevitably felt towards any of my friends.
The amount of guilt I took on because of it.
Jenny, of course, doesn't get jealous of my friends. She likes my friends. She looks forward to meeting more of them and spending time with them.
I only recently found out about Lauren's having finally left my timezone and I guess I'm just shuddering at the passing. Turning her down cold in June when she got here was a good choice.
