Writing Project

I have once again restarted a writing project that has been lost to hard drive failure or a computer virus and the resulting reformat. The last time I had finished one chapter, and as I was preparing to circulate it among some friends for their opinion, the hard drives decided to retire without notice. All on it a total loss.

So I begin once again. I have been told by various acquaintances that writers write and I should just get on with it. I agree. To "ease" myself back in I have agreed to write some book reviews. I only have a limited choice in the material I must review which to me is all good as it forces me to read stuff I would not have normally been all that interested in and would not have undertaken it normally. This has broadened my view of things to a very considerable extant. I, as I rule, do NOT read a lot of fiction. Though I do have a few favorite authors who specialize in fiction I do read, given the time.

The work in progress I have given the working title of CXH. I know it is not very expressive of it's content to most, a few close friends might figure it out, it will do for now. I have set a goal of 4 pages a day minimum. David McCullough once appeared on the "Charlie Rose" show on PBS discussing his latest work "John Adams". He said when he was first starting out on a career as writer he went to a writers convention, or something of that ilk, and met a very prolific author of some work that he admired. He asked him how he managed to write so much? The gentlemen replied "Four pages a day, everyday, four pages a day."
