Yesterday morning I was recruited to bartend. Being my first time in the bar I was quite nervous. Sema reassured me that she'd be there to show me what to do and help but other than popping in a few times to show me how much to pour and to make a few drinks, I was pretty much on my own. At first it was really stressful. But after a few hours I got the hang of things and started to have fun. Unlike dining room customers, people who come into the bar aren't in a hurry to go anywhere. No one stared at me when they wanted their check or complained I was going too slow. Everyone was really chill and chatted or watched tv and didn't really worry about what I was doing or when I'd come back to check on them. I had $550 in sales at the end of the day (9am to 4:30pm). For comparison I usually do about $300 in sales with $600 being my max at this resturant ($1000 is my Trotter's max). So it was pretty busy but not the most stressful ever. I walked with about twice as much in tips as I expected which was the ultimate perk of the whole experience.
Now it's 11am Friday morning. There are things I want to do but my husband is laying in bed waiting for me to wake him up as usual. I should just leave with the car. I'm not his mother. If he wants to sleep all day he can. If he wants to drive anywhere he should take the Subaru to the shop so he can have his own car.
