A bit belated, but...
When I have the energy, I try to post my thoughts about American Idol. So here goes, for Tuesday's episode:
Jackie Tohn - "Little Less Conversation" - Outfit is absolutely awful. She's boring singer, and makes a lot of weird facial expressions. She sounded like a dying whale at the end. Definitely out.
Ricky Braddy - "A Song For You" - A local boy (NC). Pants fit a little weird, but the rest of the outfit was okay. He has a good voice, and could be a contender.
Alexis Grace - "Never Loved a Man." Cute girl. Her lipstick is too red. Her dress was okay but a little lingerie looking. Good voice, good stage presence. Another likely contender.
Brent Keith - "Hick Town." Cute boy, outfit okay. This was not a good song choice for this stage in the competition. It's not safe to go country before you've established your voting base. His voice is okay, but nothing exciting. I don't think he'll move on.
Stevie Wright - "You Belong With Me." Her vace is weird, outfit was boring. Very karaoke performance. Just not good. Off pitch in places. Definitely out.
Anoop Desai - "Angel of Mine." Local boy (NC). Outfit was fine. Good voice. Possible contender.
Casey Carlson - "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic." Dress is just weird - strange gold concoction that isn't flattering. Vocally, this is a no. Very karaoke, totally wrong song choice for her. Definitely out.
Michael Sarver - "I Don't Wanna Be." Looks like the boy next door. Look is meh, but not horrible, except for the giant cross on his shirt. This song is a bit overdone lately, and it's kind of a copout choice. Karaoke sounding. Voice is okay, but it felt forced. Don't think he'll move on.
Ann Marie Boskovich - "Natural Woman." Pretty girl. Outfit was okay, but nothing exciting. This is a tough song choice. Decent voice. She's holding her own, but I don't know that it was the right choice for her. May make it through, but it will be a tough sell.
Stephen Fowler - "Rock With You." He needs a bit of a hair cut - I think it would be more flattering to his face, because he's an attractive man. Outfit is fine. Vocally quite nice, but kind of a weird song choice. Decent chance of getting through, but he did crack on a few notes.
Tatiana Del Toro - "I'm Saving All My Love For You." Choosing Whitney is a mistake. Pretty girl, but she annoys the piss out of me. Outfit is okay. The low notes are too low for her. She's getting drowned out by the background music. She was off on some notes. Not the worst of the girls, but I think she'll be out.
Danny Gokey - "Hero." I really like this guy. He looks like a young Robert Downey, Jr. to me. Weird song choice for a guy though. Outfit is fine. Vocally very nice. I think he'll be through.
