The Tampa Bay goalie was checking one of the Rangers in the back when he was in front of the goal. Every time he turned around to face play, the goalie was checking him. Finally the gloves came off and he started punching him.
it was RIDICULOUS. And he had to have another player serve his penalty lmao
Here's what I never understood about hockey fights. I don't watch hockey as much as I did when I was a kid so things may have changed but it always seemed that if a player from one side started hitting an opponent and the other guy did nothing but try to protect himself, both would still get penalized for fighting, even though the second guy wasn't really fighting. Do they still do that?
I remember the old Philadephia Flyers when Dave Schultz's main job was to go out pick a fight with the other team's top scorer so they both would be penalized. I've seen fights where one guy would be attacked and be penalized even though he never threw a punch and was just trying to save his ass. That's kinda what turned me off to the NHL. I much prefer the type of hockey they play in Europe where it's all finesse and skating.
