"Single Payer Healthcare", White Roofs, and the future home of my capitolist society

It's been a while, and this is going to be a big update.

There seems to be a rise of old people demanding "single payer healthcare" aka the new buzzword for socialized medicine. I read one letter to the editor from one of these fools claiming that 'with medicare and my suplimentary health insurance I have everything I need covered' while at the same time demanding single payer medicare for everyone. Basically they tell you that the current system doesn't cover enough, but demanding the current system for everyone.

Huh?

What these old folks don't understand is that socialized medicine will perform a cost benefit analysis on treatment. This means that they will determine if a particular treatment is worth it for them to perform on you based on how much longer it will help you live. For old people, that means significantly reduced treatment. If you doubt that this will happen, look at the other countries that have implemented it. They routinely deny care because it's not worth it for them to fix. Forget if you have enough money to pay for it yourself, that's probably going to be illegal. Forget insurance, that's the thing these morons have been trying to demonize and will also be done away with. People DIE waiting in lines for care in countries that do this. Canadians come to this country for their care when they really need it because they would die waiting for critical treatment in their own country. If our system is 'so terrible' why do people come here to utilize it?

Because it doesn't actually suck. It's really just people doing what capitalism say they should: providing services for a profit. Before you jump on the profit panic, here's a quote to think about: "it is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer or the baker that we expect our supper, but from their regard to their own self interest" - Adam Smith, the Wealth of Nations. People profiting is not a bad thing. You profit from working at your job. If your employer didn't profit (in the long run), you wouldn't still be employed. You have something I want, I give you money to pay for it. Government perverts this process, by forcing people to unwillingly participate (financially) in a system. They take my money by force, and give it to people who provide no service for me. The things that government is constitutionally authorized to do, is an actual service to the people. Defense spending keeps us protected from foreign threats, etc. When the government begins doing things for individual groups, we run into problems.

On to another topic - Barack 'Insane' Obama has decided that he wants everyone's rooftops to be white.

Somehow (probably through magic) these white roof tops are supposed to reduce the amount of CO2 released. While true that it may reduce the sun's effect on our planet's surface temperature, that doesn't really link it AT ALL to carbon dioxide emissions. They are of course touting some ridiculously high number (44 Billion tons of CO2) that it supposedly offsets. This really highlights the difference between the fictitious carbon offset and actual carbon emissions. Whitewashing everyone's roof would not stop any emissions. Be careful of the language they try to sneak in to hoodwink you.

On a similar note: Can you actually identify the difference between the Debt and the Deficit (there is an important difference)?

The Debt is the amount the country currently owes to who it has borrowed from. The Deficit is the amount that is added to the Debt. Why is the difference important? Because politicians will use them to fool people. An example: The most recent budget reduced the deficit by a third compared to the previous year. HALF of the budget is still borrowed money and our debt will still grow. Be careful of the wording they use, it makes a huge difference, and they use it all the time to fool people.

So, once this country is in the tank from the creeping socialism in the government (it's looking inevitable at this point - no one in the government seems to be opposing it anymore) where do I go? The liberals have always complained and threatened to move to Canada, but where can I go when the country is in the tank? I say, those of us who believe in freedom and capitalism move en-mass to another country, with a significant amount of firepower at the same time. Probably a smaller country with a despot dictator who deserves to be overthrown. If we could find a place that is ripe for being a paradise once we're done, all the better. My chosen target(any guesses?): Cuba. It used to be a major tourist destination. It used to be a great place, but then Castro moved in and ruined it for everyone. We'd be doing the world a favor by fixing the place up and overthrowing him.

All right, that's like 3 of 4 posts worth of material, probably enough for today.

global warming, healthcare, bho, deficeit spending
