Okay look, I have no business giving out fashion advice, so don't take this rant seriously. I've held this theory in my mind for a few years but recently I've come to confirm that it's true. Shorts are goofy as hell and 90% of most men look kinda stupid in them. Don't get me wrong, I wear the damn things, (I've got em' on right now) but out there in civilization they don't make a good impression and they should be avoided if you don't wanna look a 12 year old boy or an 80 year old man. The overall goofiness of a male's appearance while wearing shorts doubles each year as they get older. Have you ever seen a man over 30 who looked "cool" in shorts?
Really, do you know any guy who looks "cool" in shorts?
Shorts just look kinda sloppy and lazy on most dudes, and on the worst examples of manhood they instigate laughter. I mostly just wear shorts around the house and maybe to Lowes or someplace like that where nobody gives a rat's ass. Comfort is of course sometimes the over riding factor. But if I wanna look good, or at least look like I tied my own shoes, then I put some damn pants on. And if I do wear shorts out, I at least wear a nice shirt and maybe some hip looking shoes and make it look like I put forth an effort.
The underlying problem? Men are mostly kind of goofy looking. I feel bad for women considering I can see multiple foxy ladies on a five minute trip to 7-11 but only once in a blue moon do I see a guy that makes me think "Y'know, that's a good-lookin' fella.... damn him to hell" Do you ever wanna see a man's legs? Women's legs are wonderful and shapely, men's legs are mangy and ugly. Women can wear shorts and look fabulous, men look like they forgot to do their laundry.
You'll be grateful to know this will likely be the only time I ever post any type of fashion observations. I don't pretend I'm an expert from Esquire and I sure as hell ain't on some metrosexual trip. (that marketing term is thankfully dead and buried, anyway) I'm just an old school kind of guy who hates to see mankind lose it's cool to Old Navy cargo shorts....
Oh yeah, I'm not a big fan of athletic shoes either.....
