time to think about school!!!
Okay, I was just looking at my friends list and I realized that I only have about 10 friends from choir. There are 150 singers in choir!! I need this journal entry to reach more people. So, if you have a friend who doesn't know my livejournal screen name, please tell them this information!!
HONORS CHOIR
Because school starts so late, we need to get a move on Honors Choir right away. I have ordered the music and practice CD's. I know the conductor last year was disappointing, but this year it is SANDRA SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's one of my professors at State and is AMAZING!!!! Now, you have to make it to the state level in order to have her as a conductor, but I think it is TOTALLY WORTH IT! There will be an honors choir practice the first day of school after school (since it's only a half day.) Also, A Cappella choir will be singing the piece in the fall concert. If you are in 9th grade, there is a separate piece for you. Let me know if you're interested. Who's interested?!?!?!?!?!? I know regional choir is a pain b/c it falls with the musical, but let's focus on STATE festival which is in January!!Registration will be due September 8th, so start thinking about it now.
VOICE LESSONS
I have hired a new teacher this year who is AWESOME!! I hope many of you will consider taking lessons. The format will be different this year. You will have a half hour lesson once a week. Please let me know if you're interested. Please tell your friends. The better you know how to use your instrument, the more you will succeed! Also, you will be able to work on honors choir music, solo and ensemble music, and audition music in your lessons!
WORK DAYS
I have set up the following schedule before school to help us be ready for the first day. Please come whenever you can!
1. Show Choir Choreography
We will be working on "Old Time Rock and Roll" August 29th from 10am-noon (lunch provided). We will be working on "Longest Time" August 29th noon-2pm (after lunch). We will be working on "Pinball Wizard" August 31st 10am-noon. Please let me know if you are planning on attending. Emma and Liz, you guys HAVE TO BE THERE, so if those times don't work for you, let me know and I'll re-arrange
2. Class Room Set Up
Helpers are needed to put music into folders, set up bulletin boards, arrange the music library, count varsity letter points, etc. I would like help on August 31st from 1-3pm. If you plan on coming, please let me know so I have everything organized!!
ONE TIME ONLY
I have picked most of the show choir music. I have also hired someone to write the arrangements for us. He has already written Billy Joel's "Longest Time." He will write two more. I am thinking of the following songs. Please let me know what you think. (Think about dancing to these songs)
