New Job Info

Yeah! I got a new job. No more braving the blazing heat, hornets, rattlesnakes, wild pigs, and barbwire fencing that are so commonplace in Florida. This is the first time I’ll be paid salary, and the first time I’ll be making a decent wage. I’ll be working for a consulting company (ECT, www.ectinc.com) as a consultant to the local water management district (SJRWMD, http://sjr.state.fl.us/). My job title is Senior Associate Engineer II, and in case you were wondering what that entails, my job description is as follows:

“To review permit applications and enforce rules and regulations pertaining to environmental protection. You may also serve as an expert witness, delineate and characterize hydrologic systems, prepare technical reports, review land development plans, storm water plans and restoration reports and conduct site interviews. You will also be responsible for other related duties assigned by your SJRWMD supervisor.”

The downside to all this is the commute. It is about 45mins to Palatka (crap town east of Gainesville). The good thing is that there is a carpool, and I may be able to work on a flex-time schedule. Anyways, I’ve already put my two week notice at my old job and start this new one October 2.

Everything else is great in my life. My girlfriend is still great and beautiful. My dog is awesome although he manages to do stupid things like getting a Kong lodged on his lower jaw. I downloaded the new Album Leaf album. It is fantastic.
