BOOOOOOM!!!! A gigantic clap of thunder had me bolting out of bed this morning at 5 AM. I mean, the-house-was-shaking-right-over-head kind of thunder. After several minutes I got my heart rate back to normal, but the thunder kept rolling, so basically I couldn't go back to sleep, boo.
Yes, more weird weather for us in the PNW. Just a few days ago it was in the 90s, and now it's in the 70s with thunderstorms rolling through town. The National Weather Service reported something like 2500 separate lightening strikes last night. Our mountain passes are still pretty wet with all the snow we got this spring, so hopefully we won't see a lot of fires start from this little weather system.
Speaking of wildfires, man, I really feel for California. A friend of mine works for the USFS at Crater Lake, and he's been sending all his people and resources down to CA all fire season. And I know our governor has sent tankers and helicopters + crew. It's really ugly. So, spare a moment to say a little prayer for the smoke jumpers, air crews, and all line-going personnel out there, because it's a back-breaking and incredibly dangerous job.
