My outdoor thermometer is currently reading 64° F. 64 degrees! In February! Just 2.5 weeks ago we were starting The Snowpocalypse and temps in the 20-30 degree range! I don't think any expression covers it as well as OMGWTFBBQ??!
I had a nice weekend: volunteering (packing party with the Navy Moms/
Molly's Adopt A Sailor group) on Saturday, and getting my geek on by attending the Seattle SciFi Short Film Festival and wandering around the EPM/SciFi musem on Sunday. (There was also football, but I had no vested interest in the game beyond our snacks and beer). Yay!
Now I am about to cut out of work for awhile because I've already worked 8 hours today and I have to be back online for a virtual conference from 7:30-9:30 PM. (I'm also supposed to attend part 2 of the conference tomorrow, but it's at 5 AM my time. Uh, no thanks. Damn globalization.)
On the post-home robbery front, my office is almost completely put back together. The new window blinds are in, and the IKEA storage unit was constructed with very little swearing or problems. I even got to use a hole saw bit for the first time - fun! Also, I had to buy a new cordless drill (oh darn! :) because my girly one didn't have enough torque.
In fannish news, now that I have a TV again, I'm caught up on Castle, the NCISes, Justified, Hell On Wheels, and The Good Wife - yay! Speaking of Justified, my friend B gave me the new Elmore Leonard book, "Raylan" for my birthday, w00t! I haven't started it yet, but he tells me it's basically an alternate version of Season 2. B also gave me "Nerd Do Well" - Simon Pegg's book - for Christmas, and it is HILARIOUS. And very insightful as well. The best part of the book is the fanficion SP wrote about himself as this super-spy action hero who has a robot butler/sidekick. At the end of the book, he also includes a Star Wars fanfic that he wrote to explain away bridge the gap between the end of Episode 3 and the beginning of 4. I kind of love it when movie stars turn out to be JUST LIKE US. ♥
