You moved recently? Moving to a new home can be a very exciting event.

My sister Katniss won... a competition, so we moved to the Victor's Village last week.

That's a rather generous prize, I must say. How are you adjusting to your new home?

Mom and I love it. I don't think Katniss does very much, though.

But she worked very hard to win it, didn't she? One should take pride in achieving the fruits of their labors.

... Winning the games isn't something a lot of people want to take pride in.

Why not?

You have to kill people to win.

Mankind possesses an untold capacity for cruelty...

But in the end, your sister survived because she was strong, and because she had the resolve to live. Humans are very resilient creatures, after all.

((Just so you know, you forgot the "m" on the end of Hohenheim's name for your tag! LOL))

[ooc: ffff THANKS FOR POINTING THAT OUT XD /fixes]

It's a very noble calling. A close friend of mine had a son who was a doctor, as was his wife. They both took care of wounded soldiers during the war, regardless of which side they fought on.

I'm something of a healer myself. It's not an ability I get to use often, but it's useful to know, should I happen upon any injured persons during my travels.

((No problem! o/))

Are you a soldier?

[ooc: I found out I couldn't change it because his name is so long ;; LJ keeps cutting off the last letter]

No, I'm not. But I've lived to witness many wars in my time, child.

I'm an alchemist. I've traveled the world in order to practice my craft and to improve upon it. Alchemy has been used in the field of medicine for many years, but very few people are proficient in its use.

((If you want to leave it as "Van Hohenheim" that's fine. Hardly anyone uses the full name, or even the "Van" part. LOL))

What's alchemy?

[ooc: nah, I like being ~*complete*~, even if LJ's working against me :P]

Alchemy is the science of understanding, deconstructing, and reconstructing matter. However, it is not an all-powerful art. Man cannot obtain anything without first sacrificing something in return. In order to obtain anything, something of equal value is required. That is alchemy's Law of Equivalent Exchange.
