I didn't post any happy thoughts yesterday, so I will post two today to make up for it.
Happy thing #1
Ska music makes me happy. When I first really started listening to music other than what my parents played, I got into ska music. It was so quirky and simple and up beat. When I was Jr High I loved No Doubt, Sublime, Supertones and Reel Big Fish. On Friday night I went to see Reel Big Fish with my boyfriend Mike, and it was such a good time. I don't really follow the current ska scene these days, but hearing all the old songs I used to love make me feel a little old, but mostly happy.
Happy thing # 2
My good health! My Grandma is in the hospital right now, and it's pretty serious. She has diabetes and never follows her doctors advice. Now they think she might have gangrene. She is in a lot of pain, so much that she is on morphine. I called her and talked to her. She was so up beat, it might be the drugs, but I would like to think that she also is just naturally a up beat person. Talking to her today, and my Aunt who is not in the best shape health wise right now, makes me really thankful that I am up and about and able bodied. I could stand to be a little more healthy, and eat less carbs. But I am glad that I can make myself go to the gym, and that I don't have to worry if I can have a cookie or not. My grandma is only 65 and she is going through this. She eats very poorly and is not active enough. My boyfriend's Dad is 72 and the guy works out every day and eats whatever he wants, within reason of course. It makes me happy to know that if I put some effort forward I can avoid what is happening to other family members. I am finding that high cholesterol runs in my family, so I am glad I am a vegetarian too. With the lack of animal products aside from cheese I don't get all that much bad stuff.
