Lonesome flowerOriginally uploaded by
sup internetsI was walking out from my house to my car this morning, and I glanced into the side yard as I passed it, and this one flower was there. The photo doesn't do it any justice, it's huge, and the colors are so bright. It's so odd that just this one is there.
Jaime and I are just about all moved into the new house. There are still a few dishes at the old house, and some things that need to be thrown out in the fridge. Last night I spackled all the nail holes and painted over them. I was really grateful for my friend Audra's help. I think we put a big dent in the work that needed to be done. Saturday morning Merry Maids is coming to clean up, and then hopefully there will be a walk through with the land lord. I am so ready to be done with this.
Moving has made me also want to pair down the things I own. I have been going through all my clothes, and other stuff. The logical thing would have been to do this before I moved. Oh well. I have been looking at the houses on this site:
http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com/ I think it would be quite an achievement if I could ever live in one of those. I like the idea of not wasting so much money on material things, but rather using your money for experiences and things a bit less tangible, like travel and fancy meals out on the town. Having so many material possessions can be a lot of work, sometimes more than they are worth. And one day when I am gone, they won't matter anyhow. Still, I can't say it isn't nice to have some luxuries in life, but it's something to think about for now.
