I felt it coming for a little while now, Rhoddy and I broke up late Saturday night. I am taking it a lot better than I thought I would. We didn't get into a fight, or do hurtful things to each other. I think more than anything I was concerned about losing him as a friend, and since that facet of our relationship is sturdy and still intact, perhaps that is why I am not so bonkers.
That, and we just talked about it like adults. We care about each other a lot, and even Saturday night, we had a really good time together. But, things were loosing momentum...I don't think he is really ready for the things I would have liked to share with him, and I don't want to waste my time on someone that doesn't feel as strongly as I do. It is a shame in some ways, we have so much in common and I really respect him a lot, it is really hard to meet a man like him. But it is nice to know, that in a few weeks, when I am a bit more healed, him and I can still watch Lost together.
In other news, I have started a new painting. Nothing terribly creative, just a trippy mish mash of colors right now. It is more of a test since this is my first time working oils. I kinda hate them actually.
They look nice when they dry, but it takes forever to dry! Like more than two days depending on the pigment. And it's not always as easy to mix since the texture is thicker than acrylic. Also, the clean up is a HUGE pain. I have an abrasive citrus soap, but it takes forever to clean everything. Except for the brushes, I use lin seed oil for those. On the other hand, though acrylics are fun to paint with, I don't always want everything to look glassy and shiny. Which is how that usually turns out. Any suggestions for those that are paint savvy? I'd like to find something that is a little less trouble but still looks nice on the canvas.
