Thanks for the link, tdj! Even though you're a little skeptical, I appreciate that you're not hatin', you're participatin'. ... To which I guess I could have said I was 'appreciatin'. BUT I DIGRESS.

That's TWO votes for 'Fucking Awesome'! :D Welcome to the Revolution, citizen!

At any rate that does appear to be the debate that's raging, although to those who decry any apparent Hollywood-ness of this movie, I can only refer them to the shameful Tinseltown schlock value of such previous films as 'Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels', 'Snatch', 'Rock'n'Rolla' and the thoroughly penetrable 'Revolver' as examples of Guy Ritchie's previous forays into shallow and commercial family entertainment. Sarcasm aside, anyone referring to this film even before it's released as any kind of Hollywood hack-job (or anyone who brings 'Swept Away' into the discussion out of pure vindictiveness) deserves to have Jason Statham come to their house and perform his patented six-second dental surgery on their faces with his bare knuckles.

(Also, once again, I have to confess a possible bias regarding Outlander, as I'm a big fan of the Beowulf story; I admit it! It might have slanted my perspective, but I'm always happy to take a little slant with my movie-viewing. *_*)

Yeah. It wasn't quite as exciting as I'd hoped and the effects were a bit rough. Though I did see it like 5 months ago. Don't know how it turned out on DVD.

Yeah, a lot of people use Snatch and Lock, Stock as an example of why Guy Ritchie is shit and has no place making Sherlock Holmes. Personally I don't care. The stoggy A&E-style Holmes has been done to death. The only way to go is a completely different direction. And this looks to be a very fun, amusing film. (My fondness for Holmes only goes so far as Young Sherlock Holmes.)

And, personally, I like Swept Away. It was kind of more fucked-up than any of his other movies. It was really sadistic and revolved around making his wife look like a stupid whore and then having her sexually assaulted, degraded and subjugated. Which is really what people want to see Madonna doing. So I don't know why they complained.

I hear Sean Penn has four 70 MM prints of the film he keeps in a locked room in his basement.

Okay, that's not true. ... That I know of.

I wouldn't blame him.

Shit, I'd punch every person I saw if I spent that much time with her. It's no wonder he's such a changed man.
