So I am 99% sure I have finally decided where I am going abroad!! And I chose.. neither of the two schools I was considering, haha.
I CHOSE GRIFFITH : )
Griffith is a hands on medium sized university right next to the beach and within distance to enjoy downtown Queensland. It is pretty far north, so when I arrive in July or June (the middle of their winter) the average high will be 70 and the average low will be 60, which is definitely my kind of winter.
It came down to Griffith because the campus has equal access to surfer's paradise and hiking trails in the rain forest (the campus is on a national park). Living arrangements are great, everyone lives in these apartments on campus (which are similar to public school dorms, but nothing like ours here at denver) where there are 5 single rooms and private bathrooms, but then everyone shares a living area and kitchen. I am mostly excited about that because it means my room mates will be australian students!
I am already working on planning my travels while i'm there, every penny I have saved up is going towards traveling!! So far on the agenda:
Hayman Island to go back to the great barrier reef,
hopefully the daintree,
Definitely Sydney, if only for a day or two:
and this is the last on the list, but if we can make it I would LOVE it! Cause this was my favorite part of australia the first time I was there. Kangaroo Island! This is one of the few places where you can experience australian mammals in their natural habitat. When there I got to see a wild echidna, wombat, kangaroo, emus, and even koalas!!
I am very very excited!!
