Thinking, thinking, thinking . . .
Oh ok I'll do an LJ cut so you guys dont have to read my rambling thoughts. Not that more than a dozen people will even see 'em. But I like it that way, really.
Allright, well now that we are alone back here, lets see what's up.
As recent as June I put a high priority on "partying". I am glad that over the summer, I learned a thing or two about working hard. You know, now I see my brother going out to fucked up and I just feel kind of bad for him. "Partying" really sucks and it's funny becasue you allways hear about guys in college just partying like hell in their frathouse or whatever, but that doesn't do it for me. Yeah, I like to smoke the ganja but not as much as I used to.
I see a lot of ignorance out there and latley, i have been just feed up with it. I don't understand why almost every person I meet doesn't care enough to learn about history and poltics and things. I mean, how many people know what the Iran-Contra scandal was? Or Shay's rebellion? Or know what the Articles of Confederation were? Who was the first President of Kenya? Who was the colonial master of that country? Do you know anything about the Mau Mau?
I mean, dispite it being in the news a whole lot, the people I sit by in my classes dont even know what Blackwater is or what is going on in Burma.
I feel increasingly isolated from society as a whole. I have never been typical, you know? I have always been into finding out all of the information on something I am interested in, my curiosity sets me apart I think. My taste in music is so different than what you are "supposed" to listen to. I just can't believe the garbage that they put out these days (well, all days really) on TV and the radio. I watched the season premier of Nip/Tuck at the encouragment from my bro the other day and WOW. Possibly the biggest load of stinking horse shit I have ever seen. The plot was terrible, so was the acting. The program glorifed materialism, greed, and the pursuit of fame. I realized it was morally offensive to me. To the values I hold.
That is something, this giant beast called the media. It makes people feel insecure. In the days before daylight-savings time, workers would go home after work and spend the night there. Once they instituted DLS, those same workers started to use that extra daylight to go out to business and buy things. That us subtle, brilliant manipulation. That is how the media works today. You see so many people who wear the latest fashions and listen to the latest music and use the latest slang. They are just buying into a created image for corporate profit.
Guess which Presidential candidate has recieved the most money from the companies involved in the military-industrial complex and medical-industrial complex? Hillary, baby! What the kind of change and reform is she going to bring about when she is just as in the pockets of the corporate masters as the current occupant of that office? The more things change, the more they stay the same.
I am happy with my personal relationships with the people who matter to me though. All of you, and you know who you are, you guys make me get up in the morning.
Oh yes. If you want to hear a solution instead of hearing me complain: I believe that
Microlending can be a huge positive in the world. The amount of people we can bring out of poverty with something this simple is amazing.
Untill next time.
