More got inspired!

Lex was really, really smart. He kept answering all the questions right, even when none of the other kids did. Pete was mad when Clark blushingly told Lex that he could eat lunch with them.

“He’s a show off.” Pete grumbled as they went to their usual seats for class.

“No, he’s just got big smarts.” Which made him like Lex even more.

“So what?”

“He’s just gotta be my friend! My mommy made cookies so I could woo him.”

“What’s woo?” Pete asked him.

“I dunno. It’s an adult word. My mommy said it to my daddy ‘bout Lex.” Clark whispered back.

“What did he say about it?”

“Nothing. His face got really red, though. Like he was gonna blow up!”

“It’s a funny word, anyway.”

“Yeah.”

“Like the sound a train makes. Woo! Woo!”

“Woo Lex! Woo Lex!” Clark pulled an imaginary train whistle.

“Children, settle down! Back to math.” Mrs. Sanderson chided.

“Sorry, teacher.” They said in unison.

But Clark thought ‘Woo Lex!’ was way more interesting than times tables.
