BPAL Tracker

My entire BPAL experience in spreadsheet form. Although, I have reached a point where duplicate g!imps from the lab don't get listed, and head directly to the swap box. The Official Lab Description field is blank for a lot of entries because... well, it's a LOT of data even to just copy + paste. Favourites by fragrance family and spreadsheet under ( Read more... )

Dood, I keep meaning to ask...how did you get a grid like that to load in the lj template? I have something similar in a word doc (literally the same exact format in terms of how the table is divided, just wordier) and I'd like to upload it to lj.

It's handcoded in HTML (like when you wrap < b > around a word to bold it) - I'm old skoool. Heh. Originally, the spreadsheet was part of my personal site over here, and at that point I was still just handcoding everything. If you view source on that link I posted, you'll see the basic table structure all coded up.

If you've already got a word doc though, try the file>save as web page option. That will save it as an .html file. After that, open the .html file in a text editor (seriously something stripped down like wordpad or notepad on windows), and just copy everything in the table - literally the < table > and < / table > tags. That'll be the basic code you need to paste into LJ. The table Word generates will be a bit fussier than the one I created, but it should get the job done.

Lol - does that track?!

*blinks*

LOL! So not a tech girl. Ok, I follow you up to the part where I have to put the stuff from note pad into the lj post. I did that and the page is blank. (What should the text look like in notepad? There's just about a page of code, but no actual info - did I do that right?>

ps - sent your package out today, and tucked in a little tester decant of Luminaria. :)

Mmm, you may have missed a closing tag or something if it turned up blank. Let me PM you on BPAL.org and I can send you some sample code. (If I post it here, it will just re-create a table, but the forum has that nifty [code] feature.) By "actual info" you mean your commentary, right? When you open your .html document in a browser, does it look the same as in the word doc?

Man, this particular package sounds like an embarassent of riches. *blush* Much too good to me! ;)
