I'm doing Mel's ME-ME for my 2012 wrap up:
What did you do in 2012 that you'd never done before?
Got a job that is paying me what I’m worth (I have a very niche set of skills that are high in demand in certain places)
Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes, lots of co-workers had babies last year.
Did anyone close to you die?
No!
What countries did you visit?
Ireland for a week in the fall, it was great!
What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?
More clarify on my career, maybe get engaged too
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Changed jobs. I went from the public sector back to legal services with a very significant boost in salary although I am very conflicted by this (I will write a separate entry about careers ugh).
What was your biggest failure?
I think I jumped the gun too fast last year changing jobs. I could have thought it through a little better but the increase in salary was enticing (it was significant and a life changer).
Did you suffer illness or injury?
In January, I had my appendix removed. I woke up feeling nauseous and in pain, went back to sleep, and then woke up around 11 a.m. in much worse pain so I decide to go to the ER. From 11:30 to 4 I was in the ER being examined and they did a CT scan. By 6pm I was in surgery! The whole thing was a whirlwind and I’m really grateful D. was there to take care of me afterwards (after was the worst because I got sick from the painkiller and it took awhile to get my energy levels back to normal, I really don’t think I could have stayed by myself alone after the surgery).
Where did most of your money go?
Rent…. Food… Ireland…
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Initially, it was changing jobs but that has worn off.
Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder?
Hmm. Well this time last year I was recovering from major surgery so all of January was a weird blur. But I’d have to say probably happier than I was then.
Thinner or fatter?
Fatter. Surgery and getting driven to work has really taken a toll.
Richer or poorer?
Richer
What do you wish you'd done more of?
Traveling, cooking at home, saving money, exercising, reading more
What do you wish you'd done less of?
Internet
Did you fall in love last year?
No, I was already in love last year so we stayed in love ☺
Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
More traveling outside the US
What kept you sane?
Home life, my pets, my friends, taking it easy.
Share a valuable life lesson you learned in 2012.
Take your time when making big decisions.
