Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden
I finished Proven Guilty, which means I have to wait another year to find out what happens next! It was so amazing and funny and I kept wierding people out at work because I'd sit in the break room laughing hysterically at the book.
But there are so many unanswered quetions and intriguing new things. Help! I can't last a year! And even if the tv series is awesome (and I hope so much it is) and that it distracts me from my Harry longing, it won't have spoilers for the next book. Which is want I desperately want. I went and stalked the forums for a bit, but to no real avail. Except apparently the working title for book 9 is "White Night". Which just gives rise to so much speculation.
WHO fixed Little Chicago? Was that really Mab winking? What's up with Lea (whom I adore)? MOLLY. OMG. Obviously she can't go bad now because Harry can't die, but omg! She's awesome and that's going to be so adorable. MURPHY. I can't believe she's being demoted! Unless this gives her the excuse she needs to become the bearer of the sword Harry's keeping. Although there was one very slight hint in the book (really slight) that made me have a second of wondering if Harry could become the bearer. Could Lasciel be redeemed? Even the other Denarians don't trust her...which could be a really good thing. There was one great post on one of the threads that suggested someone though that Lasciel would end up sacrificing herself to save Harry. Because that's what the women in his life are renowned for. That or attempting to disembowl him, but yanno.
Gatekeepy! So cool! And I'm tearieyed about Harry making up with Eb, but now I'm worried that Eb will turn out to be the spy. Emotionally I just can't accept that. So please please please let that be too much of a cheap emotional shot for JB to do it.
I'm SO happy that Charity FINALLY begins to see what an awesome guy Harry is though. I love Charity but the fact she was so blocked on the Harry issue really bothered me. I'm so glad that's been resolved and is noww understandable. And that Michael is chill with the Lasciel thing. Although I think Michael could have been a little more grateful about Harry saving his kind from the Denarius. Other than that no complaints on that front.
Black Council...*drum roll*. Scrumptious! The one thing that worried me was Eb's reaction to the name. I'm hoping it was just him being like...wait, did you come up with that or do you know something I don't? But I really hope that Harry didn't stumble on the actual name and Eb is working with them. Because that would totally devastate. Like a million times more than Dumbledore dying. (Although that was enough to make me not read the book. Er, well maybe the fact that it was Snape that had to do it was what prompted that. *g* Mostly though, just being too lazy to get the book stopped me from reading it. If I had it, I'd probably succomb.) But I'm worried because Morgan is the executioner for the council which means that "Blackstaff" does more than that. I know that essentially he's an assassin but as far as I can tell he uses magic for it. Does that mean he's using Black Magic? Because they keeeeeep saying that Black Magic screws with your soul. But I can't imagine that a council sanctified position wouldn't have been all figured out. So I'm still totally hoping he's fine.
What about Justin? Are we sure he's dead?
Where's Elaine? What part might she play?
And any thoughts on Thomas? I'm kind of hoping he'll take over the White Court. Either that or he gets the sword...or both? That might be a total reach, but it would make me happy. *g* And I do want to find out wtf's up with Thomas.
Also interested to see how Harry uses his favour owed from Titania. Particularly because I can't imagine Titania not being pissed at him any more.
Also, when is the Winter Knight finally gonna get offed? DEAR LORD please don't let Harry have to take up that Mantle. (That I really can't imagine.) Is Mab really crazy? Will Maeve continue working with Summer? WHO orchestrated the attacks on Arctis Tor? Who was throwing Hellfire around there? Denarius knights? Some other thing? Something to do with the Red Court? (Doubt that one.) OR, kind of off the radar, but people on the forum mentioned the Dragon from Mavra's party, back when. If Harry hasn't actually experienced Dragon fire that might be sulfur-y and he wouldn't know? I doubt it, but had to mention it.
WHO is the spy? Would it be too obvious to be the Merlin? I really think (hope) Harry's right about Morgan. I truly doubt it's Luccio. Which leaves Ancient Mai and Merlin (if Eb's right about Joe) if Eb's right about who's in the know. PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE don't let it be Eb. I'd even prefer it to be Rashid, though not hugely, because I think Rashid is adorkable.
Also, who/what/where is Rashid? He is teh awesome.
And when the fuck is the White Council gonna get off it's freaking ass and start going on the offensive against the Red Court? Arg.
Also, nothing was ever mentioned about the Jade Court in this book. Ever. What about that?
What did Father Forthill do with the Danarius coin he took? (Not that I think he's one, I just want to figure out another way for Harry to get rid of it without losing his powers.)
Are Charity and Michael's other kids going to have powers? How will that be dealt with? Will Harry be the one-man Carpenter kids' school? At what point does Michael figure out this is too much of a coinkydink? Does Charity ever go back to using hers? Why is Father Forthill so cool? For that matter why are MacAnally and Carlos so cool and so underused too? And there was no Butters! But Rawlins better come back. He seems set up to, being Karrin's partner, but he better or I will be very sad. And I could go on for hours, but I'll shut up for now.
In addition? I miss Sue.
On a completely separate note. I really need my new contacts to come. Mine are dying, I have no glasses and therefore sight is becoming markedly more difficult.
