She stepped onto the train carrying all of her spoils from the day and ducked into a corner to stand. In her oversized bag she had the remains of her lunch neatly next to her work materials and the bag with her new contacts. She'd left for work a little early so she could stop by the optometrist to pick up some new ones. Unfortunately, she only works in that town once a week and it's a fairly stressful day besides. Still, it was so much cheaper to go there than into the busier areas, so she dragged herself out early. It was worth it, although apparently the size of her contacts meant they didn't keep many in stock and she was only able to get six months' supply instead of a full year. Not a big deal, considering. Insurance will pay for the exam next time just like it did this time.
The train was rather crowded, so as she pulled out her knitting needles she made sure to keep them close. She was also thankful that she'd thought to get a set of short needles for times like these. The blue scarf was coming along nicely; she admired it for a second before starting the next row. When did it get so long? Well, the sooner she finishes this one, the better. Then it'll be on to the next one...assuming she finds yarn for the next one. Well, she'll find something.
In the middle of the next row she started mouthing the words to the song playing on her mp3 player. With a start she realized what she'd been mouthing. "Hey, you're a crazy bitch, but you fuck so good I'm on top of it. When I dream I'm doing you all night. Scratches all down my back to keep me right on..." She smiled for most of the ride home.
I seriously was damn near cracking up the whole ride home because of that. It's practically my theme song and there I was mouthing it while...KNITTING?! Ha!
