A small Kaze no stigma update

I just watched episode 4, and it turns out that I was right about Kazuma getting over his abandonment issues really quickly. He's back to being GAR now. I'm not going to outline the plot of the whole episode, but here's the basic jist of it.

Kazuma has to administer medicine to a poor unconscious Ayano. Just pouring it in won't work, in fact Kazuma says "This won't work". What's a guy to do? Cliche cliche. I will mention that Kaze no Stigma is based off a light novel. I remember a similar occurence in the first novel of Suzumiya Haruhi. It was an empty kiss that gives a glimpse of the romance to come in future novels. But Kyon's kiss was a million times more original than the lame medicine excuse. At least it wasn't CPR
But we did get to see a pissed off Little Brother.

Little brother actually does some fighting in the episode, though not a lot.

Kazuma regains his GAR-ness by letting Ayano do some fighting although he could have done it himself. Ayano's weak and I think Kazuma wants that to change. But after the demon/hulk proves to be too much for Ayano, Kazuma summons the power of the Kaze no Seirei and here is the anime's title.

We get to see the actual Kaze no Stigma, where Kazuma's eyes reflect the color of the sky. This confirms that he is, in fact, a Contractor. That's コントラクター, not to be confused with the contractors in Darker than BLACK who are 契約者 keiyakusha. Why KnS uses the engish? I dunno, maybe it's more edgy. Either way, still not sure what being a Contractor means in KnS. We do know that he's OVER 9000 times stronger than any normal majutsushi. In episode 3, when Kazuma's little brother assumed he was a contractor kazuma said "Did you come here just to insult me?". But today's episode made him seem really GAR. I dunno.

Now that this arc is over, I was wondering what would become of the series. Based on previews of the next episode, it seems that Kazuma is the main character of the show. WHEW. Ayano deserves to be punched in the ovary for her tsundere-ness.

At this point, i'm only watching this show for the plot. It's based on a light novel, so that's probably the only thing that's guaranteed. The anime is really poorly done. There's a lot of pointless banter when there should be someone chasing after the evil demon that's about to wreak havoc on the civilized world. The whole poisoning/kiss thing was really crappily depicted. Makes me wonder if the novels are any good. I couldn't imagine how hard it is to depict elemental magic battles in a book. "A swirl of purple clased against a swirl of blue". This is why i'm not writing any books. Although the fighting scenes are done well, they aren't spectacular. If the fighting consisted of a lot of still shots and off-screen fighting, i would no longer be watching this show. No matter how much the plot intrigues me, it's the straw that breaks the camels back. We'll see how the animation holds up.

Ok study time. Oh, new icon. it's Nodame <3
