happy to have something to post that isn't a naked picture!

I got engaged last week! Wooo! And yes, my avatar is my ring!

And now, it's dawning on me that I don't know the first thing about weddings. Especially since we both live in New Mexico and the wedding is going to be in New York, where we're both from and where most of my family and all our friends still live. Especially ESPECIALLY since I am currently a size 24 and hovering around 300 pounds. I mean, shit. I couldn't even get a "Bride to Be" t shirt from theknot.com because apparently if you're larger than a size large (with a note that they run small so order a size up!) you can't get married.

Our wedding will most likely be in January 2010, or January 2009 (hopefully 5 or 6 years to the day of when we started dating) if we hit the lottery. And while I do want to lose some weight before I get married, it's not because I'm all spazzy about being fat for my wedding. I just want to be the weight I was when I started college, 230. I don't think that's too out of hand.

So I'm going to be planning a wedding two thousand miles away from where I live not knowing where the hell to get a dress in my size, not knowing what my size will BE two years from now, wanting a damn bride to be t shirt (as if the ring, an antique that his great great aunt brought from Poland in the 1890s, isn't a big enough HEY I'M GETTING MARRIED), and just basically being confused as all hell.

Where did you all go for your dresses? Does anyone live in either Albuquerque or New York City who can throw some advice my way? Will my mother want to throttle me if I ask her to scout out stuff for me?
