Takoyaki tiemz~! ♥

May 21, 2009 01:49

On Monday, Hannah, Ben and I had an epic takoyaki (+yakisoba) party! We wanted to meet up for "summer vacation activities," so making good food and going swimming sounded like fun! Most people are still away at school and in classes, so it was just the three of us, but we still had a great time~.

[Warning]: Image heavy! And I broke the rules of web design again by resizing the pictures using html. Sorry, but my laptop takes the quality way down when I resize them, but the file size way up, so I figured leaving them big was better.

Our day started at 11. Hannah drove over and picked me up, and we went over to grab Ben. After getting Ben, we went over to the Asian market in town to grab our ingredients! We also bought some castella cake snacks, Pocari Sweat, and green tea to go with the takoyaki and yakisoba. Yum. Then it was back to my house to cook!

Here's Hannah making the noodles for the yakisoba! The angle on this picture is a little odd, making Hannah's arm 3D shooting out at you whoosh! I know you folks at home can just sense the excitement of cookingness!

Ben's adding the veggies! The excitement increases!

Now for some bacon. Manly bacon. Yum. Also...don't you love my fat cat plates? Aren't they sexy?

Using my classy Disney cups. Ben was Snow White, because he's in touch with his sensitive side and loves fuzzy, woodland creatures!

Hannah's handy, travel-sized takoyaki maker! That thing was nifty.

I bothered Hannah for a picture before she started making the takoyaki. I'm kicking myself for not taking any pictures of the takoyaki being made. I guess it's a trade secret? xD

I first set the table like this, but as you see in later pictures, this arrangement didn't work out. But it's a nice picture so here it is, anyway. It's also the only shot of those castella snacks that dissolve in your mouth before we devoured them.

Close up of my yakisoba. Yes, we went classy and used paper plates and wooden chopsticks. I felt lazy and didn't want to do more dishes than I had to. >_>

Hungry hungry Benjamin, and Hannah taking pictures of our spread as well.

My picture of the spread. The flowers blocked the view from one table to another, and we needed a cenral place to eat takoyaki off of. Ben moved to the middle seat (after I replaced the chair that was covered in cat fur), and we put the takoyaki on the lazy susan. Man, that takoyaki was DEELISCIOUS. Lol, random block o' youkan that we never got around to eating.

Ben contemplates the delicious explosion of flavor from the takoyaki and the moving katsuobushi on top. "Are they alive?!".

Then we went swimming. I know you're not supposed to swim on a full stomach but...we were hungry first, and nobody drowned or anything....>_> And Ben had to leave for work at 3:30, so we swam until he had to leave. I didn't take any pictures because, well, my camera isn't waterproof.

Hannah and I went to Starbucks after Ben left because we were feeling sleepy, and naturally, coffee wakes you up!

Hannz0rz, with our "OMG PICTURES!" folder poking out of her Colbert bag. We drew more cracked out pictures while there.

Another shot of the Starbucks. It was fairly empty until a large group of guys came in and were like, "I WILL NOW DISCUSS RELIGION RATHER LOUDLY WHILE EATING POPCORN AND MAKING A MESS." I don't mind the religion part (I'm Christian, myself), but I'd like to hear the conversation with the person across from me, plz. And the making a mess? Plz2b picking up after yourself.

Hannah drew a realistic picture of Nishikido Ryo (Whom we lovingly refer to in mangled Japanese, "Naighshekyedough Rioh") that came out really scary, so somehow he turned into a Shinigami. Most of the pictures in the "cracked out pictures" folder are in this vein.

Bird! Idk, it was cute, hopping around outside the window next to us, so I took a picture.

Then I spent the night at Hannah's playing wii and staying up late. Yays!

Sorry if that was long and boring. xD But I'm the weird type of person who enjoys reading about (and seeing!) other people's activities, so I write in detail about my own experiences every now and then.

Later, then~.
