Yes, Portugal won! I was so insanely happy yesterday evening. I think I mentioned it in every reply I left anywhere. *grins* Not so sure about the ankle though because he did put ice on it when he left the pitch early into the second half. But hopefully it was just to makre sure it's okay. I think the angry-sexy is because he is pumped on adrenaline when he's on the pitch he can't relax.
And about soccer/baseball/football and globalisation. First - what a really great, original topic. I think it's moe connected to the mentality of the peoples than to the sport as such. Look at the Chinese. You say they're into baseball. But obviously they're also totally into football because apparently you can watch every match of every European league live there and every national game... I think Asian peoples are generally very open to Western culture right now. be it music or sports. Germans are similar. Football (American football, I mean) gets bigger here. And we're very much into American movie and music and what not. In comparison American seem to be genrally reluctant to take in things from Europe. be it Robby Williams or soccer. But that's just my take on things. I would love to hear what the class thought.

Haha...a Portugal win is something that can cheer up any day. Especially since they've been struggling so much. It was good to see the boys happy again. I think any time you have an injury like that, you want to take every precaution to make sure that it's ok. So I'm sure that's what the ice was about.
Thanks! I thought it was a good topic too. It seemed like something original that my classmates would enjoy. I think that's a good point that you made-about how open the cultures are to Western influence. That has a big role in it. And for some reasons, Americans are reluctant to embrace European influence...even though we eat up whatever they say about fashion.
