Well I am here doing my very favorite thing to do . . . sitting in my pjs having coffee, writing on the computer with my dog at my feet.
My rotations are going well - I am learning A LOT and have had the good fortune to meet some truly wonderful people. There is a guy on my rotation, Bennett, who is just simply one of the nicest people I think I have ever met. I really enjoy chatting with him - met his wife and ADORABLE baby boy the other day. The other people on my rotation are so nice - hard working, confident, we talk about cases and consult one another - something I never really had with my own classmates at Ross. I will give the Cornell students this - they are very well educated, mature, respectful, intelligent, friendly and have been very welcoming to me. So all this has made my transition much easier! The doctors are all wonderful too!
The clients and patients have been wonderful too - although I have had my first experience with a client who really thinks she knows better than me . . . So I am sending her a discharge statement (a sort of statement of instructions) with some information that might just make her change her mind . . . but that's all we can do, it's up to them if they want the best for their pet or not.
So the car search is still on . . . My car guy Chris threw his back out this past week so he didn't get to go to a few of the auctions, but no biggie. I was telling him that his primary goal at that time should be to get out of bed without pain and not to worry about my car situation. So he is going to keep looking this week. Cross your fingers! I need to hit the grocery store soon or else I'm gonna run out of coffee and we CAN'T have that!!!
So I FINALLY got to meet Laine, aka
filterfactor. She ever so kindly drove up here last night from Rochester to hang out with me. We went to a nice little tapas place near the Commons and had some grub and a few beers, then off to Felicia's Atomic Lounge for a drink. My stomach was killing me so we had to cut the night short. She drove back to Rochester late last night. But she is seriously as funny in real life as she is on her journal. It was great to finally meet her.
So today I am going to try and connect with my friend Shruti who is leaving for San Fran next week as she is finished at the vet school. She was the first person who really befriended me here and has really helped me out. As most of you already know, I also have a ton of paperwork to do today as well and also want to get organized for the coming week.
I may post some pictures later on but we'll see . . .
