Homework Break

Sittin here doing homework and needing a break. So I thought, hey, why not put something in my journal. It's been a while and maybe people are curious about what I've been up to. Maybe...

A few weeks back I turned another year older, and the people rejoiced... All in all my birthday was cool except some family members were being boring so we didn't really go and do anything major. As per tradition I had a scout meeting on that day so of course I had ever so much fun at the OA meeting that night. Volleyball was fun this year, even though I was hoping for a few more people to show but fun was had by all.

That week I volunteered at IMR to work in the kitchen for Ranger Rendezvous and got an opportunity to talk to Tom (my camp ranger) so we could work out some things for the upcoming summer. I guess my office/bedroom had been completely redone so I have new furniture and AC! My personal bathroom is finally complete so all will be good in that area. Just got to keep Steve D. out of there this year, at least when he comes to visit. I always wondered what he was doing in there for so long... but I guess I really didn't want to know.

While at Ranger Rendezvous I was invited to walk around and conduct the IMR Pre-Camp Inspection, holy crap there is a lot of work that needs to get done otu there! It's too bad that the year round campers don't spend as much time cleaning up after themselves. We were very liberal with our selection of criteria to fix before this years visitation, but watch out for the "new lake" in the boathouse. Randi's office is under 3 inches of ice which will have melted very nicely by summer camp. I took that opportunity to talk to Jim about the year-round program idea I've been trying to get them to think about. He seems interested so we'll see if that goes anywhere. I hope so, cause they could make so much money out there as they are not even scratching the surface of what can be done during the school year. Besides that would hopefully pull all camp registration out of that freakin council office and place it where it belongs. Anyway...

This American Government class is killing me... I have to prepare a 7 minute debate on how free trade creates jobs (plus all the other work). The topic isn't a problem it's just that it's a complicated issue and hard to take one firm stance either way. And if we have to spend half the night talking about Schivo again I swear I'm gonna hurt somebody. I guess I'm just the only asshole out there that believes that her husband did the right thing by following her wishes. Maybe I feel this way because I hate my gf's family. Who knows?

Otherwise things are going well, we are planning a camp promo day for Tippecanoe district on May 7th if any one from camp would like to help. Myron and I are meeting tonight to make final plans of how we are going to handle it. Lakota Camp Staf interviews and leader promotions are this weekend so that is exciting. Except for the fact that I have to explain to all the leaders that we are going to be checking every cooler that comes on the property as well as frisking everyone (including the BCSs, for those more creative hiders) while we look for alcohol this year. Me and my commissioner are going to be on a jihad this summer. I'm hoping to catch as many people as I can this year. We'll see ...

So that is that ... hope you enjoyed reading, if not, well, I guess I'll try harder next time. Until then, be good and I hope today is better than yesterday for you.

Doug
