Food introductions

I love cooking. And everyone who knows me knows that much about me. But it's funny how sometimes people end up eating something that I've cooked even before they've met me first! I mean... I've had someone praise my pav-bhaji even before we've been introduced! Hmmm... what would you call it? A culinary ice-breaker?!

Long story short, I made some more pav bhaji yesterday... on request. The thing about my cooking is that almost everything I prepare invariable ends up tasting different every time I cook it! I think it's because I don't really know how to cook and I've just been riding my luck! ... And of course... people, who eat what I cook, are gracious enough to not tell me to pack my pots and pans!

Speaking of pav bhaji, a friend tells me that one can never replicate the essential Mumbaiyya roadside-stall taste when we cook it at home... because the dirt and grime of Mumbai roads imparts its unique flavour to the recipe! Interesting thought, don't you think? Maybe I should drag the kitchen bin close to where I stand while cooking... just to see if the rubbish in it gives the pav bhaji that unique taste! Hehe... did that gross you out?! ;-)

Hmmm... now it's not too long before I fly back to Mumbai. It's been nearly 3 months since I've been in the UK this time around and I am missing the Mumbai rains!... sigh...

Tell me people... how have you been?
